Epic Print has added a Kama ProCut 76 Foil die-cutter from Friedheim International to its finishing department. The print, packaging and communications company purchased the ProCut for the short-run production of swing tags for a high-profile client.

The majority of work the Dorset-based company undertakes is for short-run packaging and as such the die-cutter has allowed it to bring a number of projects in house. The ProCut 76, which comes with SBU automatic and toolless stripping and blanking unit, has on average a 10–15 minute changeover time for repeat work and a substrate range of 100–800gsm. The foil module allows for hot foil and hologram finishing.

‘We wanted to develop our post-press services,’ explained managing director Mark Downey. ‘To strengthen our range of enhancements and to further improve quality of product and service to our client base. Kama’s engineering is well respected and the build quality suggests long term productivity and return on investment. The investment will significantly increase the effectiveness of our post-press department.’

The die-cutter will finish work printed on Epic’s Indigo 5600 digital press, while the company’s other finishing equipment includes a Graphtec plotter, Imark digital kiss cutter, Duplo Isaddle bookletmaker and DC746 cutter creaser, two guillotines and Horizon folders, as well as a Scodix 75 enhancement press.
