Japan’s Chiyoda Gravure Corporation is to be the first site to install a Screen Truepress Pac 830F inkjet digital flexible packaging press.

Truepress Pac 830F is a high-speed, water-based inkjet system specially designed for flexible packaging. Using drop-on-demand inkjet technology and running CMYK and white water-based inks that conform to food safety regulations, the press can handle media of up to 830mm wide at a speed of 75m/min with a resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi. The system is also capable of printing at a resolution of 1200dpi using a built-in primer coater that increases ink adherence.

With increasing global emphasis on sustainability in production and evolving consumer preferences for diversified small lot packaging, Screen noted that traditional gravure printing methods, which are best suited for large runs, ‘face challenges of low productivity, operator strain and significant product wastage.’ To address these issues, Chiyoda Gravure is working with Screen to install a Truepress Pac 830F at its facility and advance the use of digital printing in flexible packaging. This will focus on expanding the range of applications, optimising the digital workflow and resolving issues associated with small to medium lot production. Moreover, the collaboration aims to enhance working conditions in flexible packaging production and elevate print quality.

Screen has also used this announcement to confirm that is now accepting orders for the Truepress Pac 830F.
