Links Labels & Tapes has enhanced its capacity and capability to better serve its customers.

As reported last year by Digital Labels & Packaging, the Lincolnshire-based business has invested in Screen’s next-generation inkjet digital label printing technology. This has seen a  five-colour Truepress Jet L350UV SAI S press installed, with set-up, training and profiling of materials completed, and the press now in full production. ‘We are starting 2021 as we mean to go on,’ commented Reg Rudd, chairman at the UK converter.

As an example, during the coronavirus pandemic, the company received a large number of print orders for Covid-related medical labels for hospitals and testing labels. By year-end, the company had printed more than 40 million labels for the UK’s National Health Service (NHS). This high demand has continued into 2021.

This is supported by the company investigating extending its recently built warehouse to incorporate more production floor space and reintroduction of its nightshift.  ‘We reintroduced our night shift in September to see us through our traditionally busy period in the run up to Christmas. This was so successful that we have decided to continue it indefinitely following a break for the month of January to allow for training across several processes. This will make night working even more productive which, together with the inkjet press, will allow us to respond even faster in order to meet ever more demanding customer expectations.’

Now Links Labels & Tapes has HP Indigo toner and Screen inkjet digital printing capacity, and flexo equipment, supported by finishing equipment. According to Mr Rudd, ‘It’s all about customer service, from response to enquiries to a speedy on time delivery, even for technically challenging labels.’
