France-based converting equipment manufacturers Codimag, GIC, MGI, Serame and Smag are pooling their collective efforts to ensure they continue to support and serve their customers.

In a joint statement, the five companies noted, ‘The brutal arrival of a health crisis coupled with a strong and rapid contraction of the economy, leads us to review our perspectives and take the time to exchange, to get closer to each other. This is true both personally and professionally.

‘We, French manufacturers of industrial equipment for printers, mainly adhesive labels, have therefore decided to discuss together, pool our efforts, exchange our best practices and support each other to pass this complicated stage. For our companies, and especially for our customers.’

Specifically, Codimag, GIC, MGI, Serame and Smag are seeking to serve and support customers working in the food and pharmaceutical sectors. ‘So that our customers can continue to produce, they need our consumables, spare parts and new machines to come,’ the statement reads.

‘We do not have the silver bullet, but we know a transporter, a machinist, a partner, a contact or other who can be of service. Some of us are present in various countries, in particular countries having passed the ‘peak’, and therefore have a look at the after and the resumption of activity. Some of us have stored consumables for which others are out of stock. Some were able to stock up on masks for all of us.

‘We collectively believe that it is united that we will take this step. We are available for you, and wish you good luck and good health.’

The statement is signed by Codimag CEO Benoît Demol, GIC founder Bruno Vitali, MGI chairman and CEO Edmond Abergel, Serame CEO Charles Dernoncourt and Smag general manager Stéphane Rateau.
