Intec Printing Solutions has introduced the ColorCut FB1180T, a new generation of tangential flatbed digital die-cutter.

Claimed as ‘precise enough for kiss cut labels yet powerful enough for fluted boards’, ColorCut FB1180T is a B1+ digital die cutter that uses a four-tool head. This includes two passive contour/drag cut and crease tools in addition to two active tangential tools using a new deep cutting tangential blade and tangential crease wheel. FB1180T is cited as suitable for on-demand prototype pieces and light production runs, cutting and creasing media up to 3mm thick. The operator just needs to select the right tools for the job in hand, owing to the option to switch to high force cut and crease for thick N/E/F flute media. A speed of up to 1200mm/s is achievable, with high force cut and crease up to 2500gf.  A powerful vacuum fan with silencer allows for full, no-slip media hold down of jobs

FB1180T has two working modes: Direct, using Intec’s ColorCut Pro 5 software direct from a PC; and Held (standalone operation), where jobs are stored internally on the cutter or run from a USB stick.

Further, FB1180T introduces page edge detection. All Intec cutters offer instant job processing when reading a QR code and page marks printed on a sheet, whereas page edge detection enables processing of printed jobs from the rear of the sheet where there are no QR codes or page marks printed.

Terri Winstanley, Intec marketing manager, commented, ‘The FB1180T is a very exciting leap forward for our digital cutter range. This model is the first of a series of cutters to offer a new four-tool head that includes tangential tools, for deeper cutting and creasing of thicker substrates. It also hosts the new high-powered controller and expanded graphics interface that will be seen on all our digital die-cutters.’
