Abbey Labels has added a third AB Graphic Digicon to increase its embellishment offering.

The new machine complements the label printer’s digital and flexographic printing capabilities and has been specified with a 25-tonne Big Foot hot foil embossing tool, two flexographic printing heads and re-register web option.

By being able to offer high quality hot foil, embossing, debossing and to create printed multi-layered labels, Abbey Labels can give its clients an array of embellished options.

This latest purchase is the start of an 18-month £1 million investment plan, including both new machinery for digital and flexographic departments but also the increase in the size of its 25,000 sq ft factory by another 3,500 sq ft.

Abbey Labels chairman Tom Allum said, ‘The options we have specified will make the machine capable of fulfilling the needs of our ever-growing customers in the food, drinks, beauty and retail markets. Our customers are evermore requiring their products to stand out with a quality look and feel.

‘We already increased the space of our warehousing during 2018 by over 4,000 sq ft via acquisition of a property next door. The extra 3,500 sq ft, which will be built onto the existing factory, will create a better workflow and extra production space. The new space will give us plenty of room to grow over the years although part of it has already been earmarked for machinery we already have on order.’

Mr Allum added, ‘It’s our ethos that we cannot afford to stand still and we feel we must keep offering our customers more products and embellishments so that they can compete in their ever-changing markets.’
