Highcon has stated how it sees the market for digital finishing accelerating in the folding carton market, with drupa 2024 set to be a watershed moment for the industry as the company focuses on the execution of its new business plan.

drupa 2024 runs 28 May to June 7 next year following an eight-year enforced hiatus because of the Covid-19 global health crisis. Numerous suppliers have already started their journey to Messe Dusseldorf, such as Fujifilm which is taking a stand 20% larger than initially planned.

Having announced a restructuring and refinancing initiative, Highcon has now started on its own journey to drupa 2024, as explained by Simon Lewis, the company’s senior vice president of marketing and business development.

‘Undoubtedly, the folding carton market has been slower than other packaging markets in adopting digital technologies, but this is changing.

‘Due to our technology’s ability to unlock unparalleled efficiencies, savings and sustainability as well as opening up profit-driving new services for short-run digitally finished carton jobs, digital adoption is starting to accelerate. In addition to the two newly announced installations, it’s this trend that has excited our strategic investors and provided the continued confidence to support us on the next phase of our journey making digital finishing a mainstream technology.’
