Zumbiel Packaging has invested an HP PageWide T470S digital press to enhance the US company’s folding carton production.

Zumbiel Packaging is regarded as North America’s largest producer of digitally printed folding cartons. Recognising growing demand for faster turnarounds and customisation, the company has previously embraced digital printing technologies for folding carton manufacturing.

The company’s newest digital asset is over 55 metres in length, features automated roll handling and splicing, runs water-based expanded gamut inks and inline coating, and offers inline post-print sheeting and downstream material handling logistics. Such a set-up will enable Zumbiel Packaging to feed its portfolio of large format sheet-fed die-cutters with claimed ‘unmatched speed, efficiency and flexibility.’

By application, the inkjet press will be used to complement Zumbiel Packaging’s mega-volume beverage multipack production model, whilst also increasing efficiency throughout its operations by providing greater order flexibility, more production agility and a faster speed to market with ‘exceptional print quality’. The high-speed, high-throughput inkjet press line will also minimise production waste and support versioned and variable graphics.

Annette Friskopp, global head and general manager, HP PageWide Industrial, said, ‘[Zumbiel Packaging’s] commitment to innovation and sustainability aligns with our vision for the future of packaging. Together, we will push boundaries, drive industry transformation, and deliver exceptional printing capabilities to meet the evolving needs of the market.’
