Italian label specialist Etifix has invested in a Screen Truepress Jet L350UV SAI E inkjet digital label press, in order to meet ‘ambitious’ sustainability and quality standards, and demand for shorter lead times.

The converter, based in northern Italy and part of Arca Etichette Group, is on a strong growth path, despite a minor setback in 2020 due to Covid-19, requiring it to expand its capacity.

Etifix CEO Gerry Abeti commented, ‘The Screen Truepress Jet L350UV SAI E’s consistently high print quality, its waste reduction qualities, and short production times were all winning arguments for us.’

He added, ‘Even more importantly, this press enables us to enter new markets and provide labels to customers we didn’t service before.’

Etifix has a strong position in the cosmetics market, a sector that is particularly demanding in terms of quality and service, and which has a strong focus on sustainability.

In direct relation to this, Mr Abeti said, ‘In addition to its high quality and speed, the SAI E enables us to significantly reduce production waste compared with traditional machines, improving our own impact on the environment, and that of our customers.’

The press’ short set-up time, high uptime and speed also benefit cosmetics customers, and others. ‘The cosmetics, as well as the industrial sector, evolve fast – as do other Italian markets we serve,. Customers need labels in small or medium-sized quantities, with many variations, more often and faster. Responding to customers’ requests more quickly has always been one of our major strengths. Screen technology ensures we can do this even better.’

Etifix’s investment in Screen’s inkjet digital label printing technology is further evidence of the on-going shift towards digital in the Italian print market, says Ettore Maretti, managing director at REM, which represents Screen in Italy.

‘We’ve seen investments in digital presses picking up for quite some time now and expect this trend to continue in coming years. Italian brands and printers are fast discovering the advantages of digital printing in the competitive markets they operate in.’
