Indiana-based printer Accu-Label has installed a Xeikon CX500 at its facility in Fort Wayne, as the digital printing specialist continues to ramp up its efforts in North America.

CX500 is a dry toner, roll-to-roll, five-colour digital label press driven by Xeikon’s X-800 front end. This model has a web width of up to 20in and a full rotary printing speed of 30m/min (98ft/min) at 1200dpi.

The CX500 dry toner press shipped to Accu-Label was delivered directly from the show floor of Printing United, which took place in Dallas, Texas at the end of October. Xeikon’s presence at Printing United saw the North American debut of CX500. The press was used to highlight the range of applications possible, from direct mail marketing, wall coverings and POP/POS posters, to paper cups, flexible stand-up pouches, large signage, and a variety of roll-to-roll heat transfer and IML products.

Also debuting at the show was Xeikon’s Walldeco Discovery package, as launched earlier this year at Heimtextil 2019 in Frankfurt, Germany. Walldeco Discovery is a package targeted at affordable, cost-effective short-run wall decoration production. It is similar to Xeikon’s Label Discovery package, which consists of a Xeikon 3030 entry-level web-fed digital label press and entryDcoat digital converting line. Label Discovery addresses 90% of all end user label applications, according to Xeikon. Walldeco Discovery combines a four-colour Xeikon 3050 digital press to deliver 1200dpi at speeds up to 300sqm/hour. After printing, the web varnishing module provides the option for inline varnishing of the wallpaper to enrich the effect or to protect, and at the end of the line, the wallpaper medium rewinder outputs the finished rolls ready for further logistics.

Donna Covannon, director of marketing at Xeikon America, said, ‘Most visitors to our exhibit were on the lookout for new revenue-generating applications and a number of them were commercial printers looking to expand into label, packaging and industrial applications.’

Xeikon America has previously made a number of appointments and promotions in the region to further its growth. At Printing United, it also confirmed a partnership agreement with Anderson & Vreeland that effectively triples Xeikon’s sales strength in North America.

‘Both our companies see great potential in this new relationship,’ commented David Wilkins, vice president of sales at Xeikon America. ‘Our businesses were both built on a foundation of uncompromising quality and superior customer value.’
