Corrugated packaging company Industria Cartone Ondulato (ICO) is set to install an HP PageWide C500 press as part of its transformation to digital post-print production.

The installation will begin in July at the company’s site in Pianella, Italy where ICO recently began operating a new Agnati Quantum2 corrugator.

‘High-volume digital printing is set to disrupt the corrugated packaging industry,’ explained CEO Manlio Cocchin. ‘ICO is taking corrugated printing to the next level by launching on-demand, digital services with the offset-matching HP PageWide C500 and delivering this innovation to our customers.’

The company, which employs over 250 people across four plants, believes that digital printing will provide greater customisation and flexibility for its customers.

Mr Cocchini also noted that, with the HP PageWide solution using water-based inks, ICO will now be able to deliver food-safe packaging as well as minimising the impact of printing in paper recycling.
