Riso has launched an addition to its Integlide range of inkjet print engines for short-run package printing, the new sideways-type Integlide S3491/S3461.
Joining the existing downward-type Integlide S3411/S3211, which prints on sheet-form packages and on the top faces of packages, the new sideways-type Integlide S3491/S3461 prints horizontally onto the sides of three-dimensional objects such as corrugated cardboard boxes and paperboard containers.
According to Riso, this allows on-demand printing to be integrated into a wide range of production environments as required: inline or offline, before or after packing.
The unit makes variable data printing on a maximum print area of 310mm x 2004mm is possible on the sides of erected corrugated cardboard boxes and similar packages. Combined with a package transport module, the unit can print designs matched to the contents, along with information such as barcodes and manufacturing dates, while the package is in motion.
Two models are available: the Integlide S3491, for lines on which the package travels left-to-right (LR) relative to the print surface, and the Integlide S3461, for lines on which it travels right-to-left (RL).
This is a smart addition from RISO for the growing demand in on-demand package printing. Printing directly on the sides of erected corrugated boxes opens new possibilities for late-stage customization, variable data printing, and reducing pre-printed packaging inventory.
As brands continue to demand shorter runs, versioning, personalization, and supply chain flexibility, inline inkjet solutions like these can significantly improve operational efficiency.
