UK label manufacturer, Bristol Labels, has incorporated inkjet print production into its service offering with the installation of a Durst Tau RSC E.
According to managing director, Ben Stokes, the press has all the capabilities to make the company much more competitive within a key market for Bristol Labels, Beers wines and spirits.
Mr Stokes told Digital Labels & Packaging: “This is a very exciting time moment for the company, and one which has been two years in the making. I’m excited for the opportunities that the press will bring.”
There were two main factors which influenced the purchase of the Tau RSC E for Bristol Labels; running speed and ink durability.
Mr Strokes explained: “A lot of the work we produce is for the beer, wines and spirits market, and the process of applying labels onto the containers of these drinks can be quite unforgiving on the labels themselves. However, with this press, we will no longer need to laminate the labels to make them fit for application.”
“The press is also able to run at 52m/min, regardless of the colours it’s printing. This means we can get a lot more capacity out of the press, and makes the whole process more efficient. These attributes combined will make us much more flexible in what is a very competitive market.”
The Durst machine represents the third iteration of digital press technology for the company, which installed its first digital press in 2015, an Epson Surepress. This was then replaced by an HP Indigo in 2019.
The press will also open up the possibility of entering new markets for the company in the future.
