UK-based AG/CAD Limited has announced the release of KaseMake Essentials, a lower-cost version of its KaseMake CAD software designed for packaging and display design.

The new offering is aimed at users seeking access to core drawing tools and built-in parametric design templates without the more advanced features included in the full KaseMake package.

Sales director Andrew Boulton said the launch was shaped by feedback from prospective customers trialling the software.

“Feedback from many potential customers around the world who have been trialling our software showed us that there is a clear demand for a lower cost, pared-back version of our full KaseMake product. Still offering the same world-class drawing tools and hundreds of built-in resisable designs (Parametric Designs) for packaging, displays and exhibitions, but without some of the more advanced functionality,” he commented.

KaseMake is used by packaging and display manufacturers, signmakers and companies developing packaging in-house. AG/CAD said the full software offers a broad range of functionality, while the Essentials version is intended to serve users with more basic design requirements.

According to the company, the product is targeted at sectors such as advertising agencies, commercial printers and freelance designers that may primarily need access to resizable templates to produce 2D cutter guides for artwork creation, diemaking or sample production.

AG/CAD said KaseMake Essentials enables users to create packaging and display designs by selecting a template, entering dimensions and customising designs where needed.

Mr Boulton said the launch marks a first for the company.

“We’ve been in business developing CAD software for 39 years, and this is the first time in our history that we’ve launched a low-cost alternative to our flagship KaseMake software, putting it within reach of many individuals companies that simply don’t need all the bells and whistles. We anticipate that as they find the software more and more helpful, their needs may increase, so we’ve also made sure there is an upgrade path to access full functionality as they grow.”

The company said the new software is intended to broaden access to KaseMake while offering users a route to upgrade to the full platform as their requirements expand.
