French labels and packaging specialist Inessens has expanded its variable data and 2D code printing capabilities with the installation of three Domino K300 monochrome inkjet printers at its Imprimerie Bidoit facility in Cognac.
The investment is intended to support customers in meeting new EU wine labelling requirements, which include the use of high-resolution 2D codes, while also offering opportunities for enhanced traceability and consumer engagement.
The company operates nine printing sites across France, serving sectors such as wine, spirits, food, cosmetics, fragrances, and medical products. Inessens is known for its work in label design, including natural pigments, anti-counterfeiting Fresnel lens features, and advanced variable data printing technologies.
“Innovation is at the heart of everything we do,” Sébastien Garaboeuf, directeur Industriel at Inessens. “We constantly anticipate market trends and expand our expertise to offer new printing and material solutions.” He noted that customising labels with variable data and 2D codes aligns with this focus.
Inessens has collaborated with Domino Printing Sciences for two decades, adopting its first Domino inkjet numbering solution in 2005 and later adding K150 and K600i systems. The recent installation replaces the earlier K150 units with the K300 model, which offers up to 600dpi print resolution and production speeds of up to 250 metres per minute.
According to Mr Garaboeuf, the K300 printers support the company’s production of premium wine labels finished via flexographic processes by enabling reliable, waste-efficient printing of unique numbering and variable QR codes, particularly for short-run and quick-turnaround jobs.
Inessens plans to extend its variable data and 2D code printing expertise across its wider network, with a view to developing additional label and packaging solutions.
“We’re proud to support Inessens, a company that shares our commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction,” said Rony Jorand, account manager at Domino. He noted the long-standing partnership and the progression from variable data to 2D code applications, adding that Domino looks forward to continuing its collaboration.
