Kodak is to debut wide-width Prosper imprinting technology for hybrid packaging and commercial print applications at drupa 2024.

Prosper are inkjet-based options to add digital printing capability, such as variable data, to analogue printing systems. Existing Prosper versions are available with multiple widths and speeds, using a scalable printhead architecture to allow systems to be built suitable for the application. Whilst these have already been able to be integrated into offset, gravure, and flexo presses, and also finishing equipment, having a natively wider width option will allow kodak to target a wider – literally and figuratively – range of applications with its Prosper platform. Similarly being able to be integrated into offset, flexo and gravure presses, as well as post-press and converting systems, ‘high-performance imprinting technology enables printers to enhance their existing analogue equipment with flexible digital capabilities and offer value-added services to their customers,’ according to Kodak.

The next-generation Prosper technology is part of Kodak’s overall presence at drupa 2024, where inkjet and offset printing technology will be showcased. This will include the Prosper Ultra 520 press, the latest generation of the company’s Prinergy workflow technology, and Sonora process free offset plates, which mark their 20th anniversary in 2024.

Kodak’s executive chairman and CEO, Jim Continenza, said, ‘With our presence at drupa 2024, we will demonstrate our commitment to innovation across our complete portfolio of both traditional and digital solutions.

‘At the Kodak booth, printers will learn how Kodak can help make their business more efficient and profitable in today’s ‘and’ era of print. For being able to serve their customers comprehensively and be successful in the market, printers today need both innovative digital technology and modern, highly automated solutions for traditional offset. That’s exactly what Kodak offers them from a single source.’
