South African label printing company SA Litho has invested in the country’s first Pantec Rhino flatbed hot foil embossing unit, integrated as part of a Chrome RDF digital finishing line ordered to further its ability to serve the wine and luxury markets.

The Pantec Rhino E 340 flatbed hot foil embossing unit features stamping at up to 18,000 strokes per hour, a maximum web speed 85m/min, multi-stroke with 90-degree rotatable foil head in web direction or across the web, two foiling levels for foil saving, application of registered hologram foils, and two independent heating zones for optimal foiling temperature for every foil.

‘Owning the first Pantec Rhino embossing unit in South Africa, SA Litho is uniquely positioned to provide world-class embellished labels for the wine and luxury markets at an international quality level,’ stated Michael Aengenvoort, CEO at Rotocon, through which the order was placed during Propak Cape 2023. ‘This is an exciting milestone for Rotocon and South Africa.’

The hot foil embossing unit has been ordered alongside a Rotocon Chrome RDF digital finishing machine, equipped with a Wink SmartGap Touch adjustable anvil system. The Chrome RDF is a modular digital finishing machine for embellishments. It is designed for converters looking to integrate cold and hot foiling, embossing and rotary screen printing to produce premium finished labels. Wink’s SmartGap Touch is a digitally controlled adjustable anvil system offering a wide range of smart functions to make die-cutting ‘faster, easier and more efficient.’
