Screen is updating its activities in the digital label printing market with a new hybrid press and inline primer option.

The hybrid printing option sees Screen and Nilpeter combine their respective Truepress Label 350UV SAI technology and FA-Line flexo platform. This system has been developed to meet increasing demand for integrated digital printing and embellishment. Screen’s contribution to such a system offers up to seven digital colours, enabling expanded gamut along with high performance white printing. This is integrated with Nilpeter’s platform-based FA-Line and embellishment, creating an inline production platform said to ‘facilitates an efficient production of value-added labels’.

To further the capability and application range of its UV inkjet digital label printing technology, Screen has developed an inline inkjet digital primer for its Truepress Label 350UV SAI press. Currently still a prototype, this has been developed to tackle the issue of poor adhesion of UV inkjet inks on certain substrates, saving time and resources and allowing a better print quality that can enhance visual appeal and brand impact.

This has historically been resolved through offline pre-priming of the substrate before printing. Screen’s prototype digital primer option eliminates this step by incorporating the process inline, directly inside a Truepress Label 350UV SAI.

Both of these technologies will be on show at Labelexpo Europe 2023, taking place 11-14 September at Brussels Expo.
