With large volumes complemented more and more by, ‘smaller, versatile, ad hoc jobs, digital is an increasingly important part of the corrugated market,’ as noted by Sebastien Stabel, market segment manager, carton packaging at Xeikon.

He made the comment as Xeikon prepares to participate in this year’s edition of CCE International, an event for the corrugated and folding carton industry co-located with ICE Europe and InPrint across 14-16 March in Munich, Germany. At the show, Idera will be presented to attendees. This press is an industrial, food-safe, regulatory-compliant and water-based single-pass post-print inkjet digital printing system for the corrugated market. The system is scalable, with a range of productivity and print quality modes available. These modes, combined with the Xeikon onsite ramp-up support, ‘help converters control their running cost and stay competitive,’ it is claimed.

Mr Stabel continued, ‘Short-run print is too costly a set-up with flexo. Not all converters are able to invest considerably in digital printing, yet they are pressured by brand owners who prefer to deal with just the one go-to print provider who knows and acts upon their brand guidelines. With Idera, printers no longer need to pass on the opportunity to do more for their current client base and tap into new business. It’s the low-risk, high-revenue solution they need to optimise their current flexo capacity while ramping up their short-turn capabilities and meeting the demands of today’s brand owners.

‘Converters can futureproof their operations today and prepare for what lies ahead in the corrugated market.’
