Markem-Imaje has introduced an ethernet protocol and image creation capability to its 4700 valvejet drop-on-demand (DOD) printer.

The ethernet protocol provides greater connectivity to its 4700 valvejet DOD printers. Now allowing for up to 20 variable updates per print, the enhanced 4700 is claimed to support customer needs for customisation and flexibility, even in challenging manufacturing environments.

The introduction of image creation and printer management capability is achievable via a new driver with the company’s CoLOS suite. coLOS is designed to help optimise production to maximise uptime and ensures that packaging and coding are accurate and traceable.

These latest innovations ‘further enhance the 4700’s support of efficient production lines’, according to Markem-Imaje, facilitating printing of robust codes that remain readable, even in the most extreme conditions. Codes, as well as low resolution text and logos, can be printed in several colours on surfaces such as cardboard, plastic, glass, metal, PVC and wood. Together with its large character valvejet, 4700 DOD printers are suited for logistics and distribution applications, meeting the international safety standard IEC 62368-1.

Greg Kasprzak, marketing team leader at Markem-Imaje, said, ‘At the core of our mission is to listen to our customers and innovate to help them address the complex challenges of today’s operating environment. The 4700 has been a high performing staple in our DOD portfolio and with these upgrades we are improving connectivity to offer more flexibility and introducing, for the first time, image creation and printer management capability.’
