Corrugated packaging manufacturer Durham Box has been awarded BRC AA grade certification for its manufacturing site in Bishop Auckland, County Durham.

Durham Box manufactures corrugated packaging for large-scale accounts across multiple markets, particularly within the FMCG sector. A key part of the company’s offering to the market is an EFI Nozomi C18000 single-pass, ultra-high-speed LED inkjet corrugated packaging press. Durham Box uses this press to produce short runs of corrugated boxes for e-commerce businesses and start-ups, printed with 100% low migration food safe inks.

The BRC certificate streamlines the supplier approval process and makes it easier for suppliers to the food manufacturing sector meet the requirements of the BRC Food Standard, while also helping retailers and food manufacturers adhere to their legal obligations. Under the revised issue 5 of the BRC Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials, a AA grade is one of the highest awards that a business can achieve within the certification scheme.

Durham Box managing director Dan Morris said, ‘As with all businesses, maintaining a BRC certification involves a great deal of hard work from all employees. Achieving an AA grade shows that we deliver the highest possible standards in all that we do and provides reassurance to our customers that our products are made in a safe, quality-minded environment that complies with all relevant legislation.’
