AstroNova has identified how its customers are creating new business opportunities through the use of its TrojanLabel T3-OPX direct-to-package printer, which experienced a record year in 2021.

T3-OPX is direct-to printing system that enables high-quality, full-colour printing directly onto materials with ink-receptive surfaces. Using HP thermal inkjet technology, unique and automatic height adjustment calibration allows the print module to make the post-print process ‘seamless’ and offer user-friendly print capabilities. T3-OPX allows customers to digitally print high-resolution colour images directly onto a broad range of products, including cardboard, postcards, boxes, paper or fabric bags, wooden planks, or thicker objects like blister envelopes, cases, or folded boxes ready for shipment. These materials require no pre-treatment. The printer can print at a maximum resolution of 1200 x 1200dpi, at up to 27m/min, and with a print width of 297mm.

In 2021, T3-OPX had a record year around the world, fuelled by rapid growth in the exponential growth of e-commerce activity as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic.

AstroNova president and CEO Greg Woods commented, ‘The T3-OPX is an exceptional addition to our product offerings and provides customers with superior durability and optimised water resistance, lightfastness, and scratch resistance.

‘With several successful installations already in place, the T3-OPX is undoubtedly an advanced addition to the TrojanLabel family of industrial, specialty printers and digital colour label presses.’

In directly relation to the growth in e-commerce, AstroNova identified that as T3-OPX allows for smaller, individualised print runs, ‘packaging manufacturers can now act quickly to market, providing rapid fulfilment, all with sustainability in mind.’ This applies to commercial printers, custom retail packagers, print shops, manufacturers, contract packers, and secondary logistics partners.

Mr Woods continued, ‘T3-OPX combines the benefits of digital CMYK printing with flexibility, accelerated time to market, and waste reduction without compromising print quality. It’ll help our customers create new business opportunities and provide advanced, competitive advantages.’

AstroNova is to showcase the TrojanLabel T3-OPX at Packaging Innovation & Empack in Birmingham, UK on 25-26 May, 2022.
