Germany’s Burger Druck has signed on as the first customer for Scodix’s new Ultra 5000 B2 digital enhancement press.

Burger Druck has been delivering commercial print products to its customers for the last 30 years. The business uses both digital and offset printing at its facility in Waldkirch, south-west Germany, printing catalogues, brochures, direct mailers, and more. The company has also made a successful transition into packaging and continues to develop its range of products, allowing customers to benefit from a one-stop-shop for print.

The Scodix Ultra 5000 digital enhancement press was introduced last year as the company sought to update and upgrade its portfolio. Ultra 5000, alongside Ultra 6000, has been designed with the packaging market in mind and is able to handle thicker substrates – up to 2mm – and incorporates industrial pallet feeders and stackers.

The printer’s owner, Dirk Burger, commented, ‘We decided to attain the Scodix Ultra 5000 because digital enhancement printing is on the rise, and with this press, we continue to outpace the competition in the commercial and packaging sectors. The investment will be particularly helpful in the short-run, high quality packaging arena where Burger Druck’s business is growing at a very healthy pace.’

He added, ‘We see the Scodix Ultra 5000 press to be the seamless embellishment fit for the HP Indigo 12000 and Heidelberg CX 102 LE-UV presses guaranteeing top-quality enhanced print product production. Working with coated and uncoated substrates, and the widest range of enhancement options we can offer our customers so much flexibility, plus luxurious quality at an affordable price.’

Franz Repp, Scodix sales director for the DACH region, said, ‘Burger Druck is a wonderful addition to the Scodix family and a deserving candidate to receive the first Scodix Ultra 5000 press. The company’s range of jobs, average run lengths, and substrate variations make this press the ideal platform to enhance not only its print products, but Burger Druck’s current and future business. The value the company will be able to create is priceless to its business.’

Mr Burger concluded, ‘It’s an exciting time in packaging. E-commerce is booming and product packaging is a vital part of the consumer experience. Scodix digital enhancement provides instant visual and tactile impact that brands can really capitalize on, and we’re delighted to be able to provide that for our customers.’
