A new online platform, Compack, has been introduced to enable brand owners to democratise the package design and purchasing process, ‘by partnering with unique suppliers whose flexible business model reflects their own.’

The brainchild of Aviv Ratzman, co-founder of Highcon, Compack allows brand owners to compare and choose suppliers who provide on-demand custom packaging services for both primary and secondary packaging. It is noted by Compack that current supply chain processes can leave brands – both large and small – with limited options when it comes to creating custom packages through largescale manufacturers. As a result, the brand’s time and resources may be wasted when shelf packages don’t match product size, have no print or are simply substandard. This can negatively impact bottom lines and the ability to generate revenue, whether with seasonal and holiday products or events, promotions, long tail products lines and all-year-round products.

Those using the Compack platform have access to an intuitive online interface, which they can use to design and construct custom packages, before placing their order. By bringing together structural design flexibility, graphics customisation options, speed to market and very low MOQs, Compack allows brands to order custom packaging without having to worry about sales managers, quote delays, and delivery setbacks. This can help deliver supply chain efficiency while meeting tight budgets, cyclic deadlines and delivering a memorable unboxing experience to customers. Compack also provides consulting services for printers and converters wishing to expand their online capabilities, as well as brand owners seeking compatible packaging partners.

Compack is identified as offering a similar service to the folding carton and corrugated packaging supply chain as booking.com does for travel and accommodation. Mr Ratzman explained, ‘The demand for short-run packaging in today’s commercial landscape is growing day-over-day, while most of the world’s packaging manufacturers are simply not equipped to fulfil this need. That’s because many packaging manufacturers have strict minimum order quantity requirements and don’t have the flexible capacity to manufacture custom packages on demand.’

The Compack platform has already partnered with many web-to-pack suppliers all over the world and will continue to grow as more companies join the Compack community. Those already on the Compack platform include CartonXpress, DS Smith ePack, Fantastapack, Pixartprinting, Pakfactory and Xceed.

Another early Compack community member is Packly, whose founder and CEO Giuseppe Prioriello said, ‘We are glad to be featured on Compack as a brand that provides unique packaging solutions all over the globe, no matter the industry. We get hundreds of orders daily from brands seeking small, high-quality batches of packaging. We see a huge opportunity for growth when approaching more and more brands and providing the flexible services they need. Being part of packaging modernisation on this exciting step towards commercial innovation makes us proud to play a role in a more sustainable, package-friendly future.

‘Long production time and high runs are truly behind us. Our turnaround time is just a matter of days instead of weeks for better stock management and waste reduction.’
