Digital converting specialist Highcon has promoted Eitan Varon to the role of chief marketing officer (CMO), as company founder Aviv Ratzman steps down from the role to return to an entrepreneur position.

Mr Varon joined Highcon in 2012 and during the first two years led the company’s marketing activities, including at drupa 2012 where the company debuted its digital cutting and creasing technology. Prior to joining Highcon, he spent five years as the executive vice president, sales and marketing at VIM Technologies, previous to which he was the CFO at Printar and NUR Europe, a subsidiary of Nur Macroprinters. He has also worked at Scitex & Karat Digital Press, the joint venture of Scitex and Koenig & Bauer.

Since late 2013, Mr Varon has served as executive vice president at Highcon, leading the strategic business development and the finance operation of the company.

Highcon CEO Shlomo Nimrodi said, ‘While I am sorry to lose Aviv, I am delighted to announce that Eitan Varon will step into the CMO position of the company and will assume this role effectively within the next few weeks after a proper transition.

‘Aviv has built an extremely strong and well-rounded marketing team, and Eitan will bring the business development leadership that is critical in our forwarding looking strategy for collaboration with multiple industry players to drive the overall digital vision.’

Mr Nimrodi continued, ‘In June 2019 I was brought to Highcon as CEO, welcomed by both Aviv and Miki [Michael Zimmer]. While Miki left the executive role in August of last year, Aviv assumed the role of CMO and strategic customer accounts, and has been working very closely with me, helping me to get up to speed with the role, its challenges and opportunities. Aviv built an excellent marketing team that drives successfully all our marketing tasks. Together with Aviv we solidified the company’s leadership team with market leaders in the critical roles of CTO, operations and sales. I found Aviv to be a true partner for me.

‘Following the impact of the eruption of COVID-19, and the resulting postponement of drupa and related events, combined with the recent round of funding, Aviv approached me a couple of weeks ago expressing his desire to return to his entrepreneur role, about which he is very passionate, and his will to start a new business. After I was persuaded about his conviction, I embraced Aviv’s decision and will of course fully support him in his new journey.’
