Kaplamin Ambalaj has added a second Onset X1 at its Prigo Digital Solution Center.

The business is a member of Çukurova Paper and Packaging Group, and provides packaging options to some of the biggest businesses and brands in Turkey. This includes those in the food and beverages, chemicals, durable consumer goods, ceramics, and textiles industries.

Founded in 1976, Kaplamin Ambalaj was acquired by Çukurova Holding in 1984. Its Prigo Digital Solution Center near Izmir opened in December 2017, giving the company an entry point into digital production through the Prigo brand. Specifically, the first Inca Digital Onset X1 LT platform from Fujifilm provided a digital printing option for corrugated board in order to meet customer demand for shorter runs and faster turnarounds.

Growing customer demand for short run work has continued to accelerate since that investment, necessitating investment in a second system.

Digital corrugated board production, which had stood at 40,000sqm per month, has quickly doubled, and the company’s factory manager, Osman Bozcaarmutlu, anticipates that running the two Onset platforms together will soon equate to 100,000sqm of printed corrugated board per month.

Mr Bozcaarmutlu said, ‘Our digital printing business, which we started two years ago, has been very successful. We entered this sector in partnership with Fujifilm and we continue to work and grow with them. The Onset can print to a wide range of substrates and we’ve found it to be ideally suited to printing to corrugated board. Fujifilm was therefore the obvious choice when we came to invest in a second machine.’

He continued, ‘The Onset is a very operator-friendly printing platform, engineered for hassle-free, smooth operation. This, combined with Fujifilm’s excellent service and support, both online and onsite, means that machine downtime is kept to an absolute minimum. The fact that everything works so smoothly gives us the confidence to keep investing in the same technology and brand.’

Cengiz Metin, general manager at Fujifilm Turkey, said, ‘With the creation of its Prigo brand, Kaplamin Ambalaj has brought a breath of fresh air to the corrugated printing sector. The company adds tremendous value with its high quality short run and customised print, as well as other display and POS materials. Kaplamin Ambalaj is an innovative company, committed to sustainable production, and who we look forward to continuing to work with and support.’
