Industrial Inkjet (IIJ) is to start 2020 with an effort to further its already strong foothold in the Asia-Pacific region for industrial inkjet technology.

Sales of print engines into the Asia-Pacific region already account for more than 25% of IIJ’s global sales, following a ‘very successful’ 2019 for the company in the region. This is expected to continue, with the UK-based business identifying a ‘healthy pipeline of ongoing projects in the area’, as well as many enquiries from Southeast Asia for retrofittable digital label modules, as shown at Labelexpo Europe in Brussels earlier this year.

In January 2020, Paddy O’Hara, director of business development at IIJ, will talk at the Japan Inkjet Business Conference on the subject of ‘Keeping Inkjet Simple – the secret of successful inkjet integration’.

His talk will detail how IIJ has supplied systems for a number of industrial applications over the last 10 years, from labels and packaging, to printing direct to products.

He will suggest that the secret of making this work has been to keep the systems as simple as possible, reducing cost, increasing robustness and simplifying support, as well as explaining how this has been achieved and how it benefits a range of markets.

Mr O’Hara said, ‘I am looking forward to discussing new opportunities with the delegates at the Japan Inkjet Business Conference as this is a rapidly developing area of IIJ’s business, which we hope to grow even further.’

IIJ is the official sales and technical support centre for Konica Minolta industrial inkjet outside of Asia, providing expert advice about inkjet technology in industrial applications. At this year’s TheIJC conference, Mr O’Hara introduced the market to KM1280iMHH-S, a new Konica Minolta printhead designed with single-pass applications in mind, and to bridge the gap between high resolution/small drop size options and those offering larger drop sizes but with a lower resolution.
