US packaging manufacturer Haney has introduced a dedicated digital division to support growth in the market for digitally printed short runs of packaging.

Haney Digital is intended to deliver digital printing, laminating and converting capabilities for short-run, commercial flexible packaging applications to the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry.

Haney Digital’s offer includes printed and/or laminated rollstock for VFFS and HFFS machine applications, printed and laminated pre-made stand-up pouches with fitment options, and lamination for printed and/or unprinted flexible packaging applications.

Haney describes itself as the world’s first ‘Packaging Microfactory’, with the aim to connect innovation with the accelerated production of small-batch, consumer usable product samples for retail and e-commerce programs. Its capabilities extend from  conceptualisation to commercial launch.

It is a long-time user of digital printing technology. Its equipment portfolio includes an HP Indigo 20000 digital press, outfitted with HP’s SmartStream Mosaic and variable data technology. In combination with the HP Indigo 20000, Haney’s assets include pre-press and proofing systems, an HP Indigo 4500 digital press, Nordmeccanica solventless laminator, and a range of slitting, finishing and converting capabilities. Complementing its digital print capabilities, Haney also runs flexographic equipment, including an eight-colour Comco Proglide MSP flexo press.

Scott Whitehouse, vice president of client services at Haney Digital, said, ‘Adding Haney Digital to an already stellar suite of services that Haney has offered to CPG and agency partners for decades will truly round out Haney’s portfolio and enable our clients to have access to the ultimate packaging toolbox.”

CPGs working with Haney Digital will also have access to the VIA Alliance packaging materials and technologies library. This resource of 50-plus raw materials suppliers to the packaging industry enables brands to infuse new, innovative, and sustainable technologies into their brand packaging initiatives, according to Haney.

Dan Haney, co-owner and president of the company, said, ‘We continue to build on our strong CPG heritage to grow our brand package innovation to commercialisation offering. This new commercial capability adds to our packaging powerhouse by enabling our clients to fully leverage the power of their brand packaging for retail, and direct to consumer channels, while providing blazing speed to market, agility and sustainability, with one-stop-shop convenience.’
