Textile service specialist MEWA has made its Multitex hazardous fluid trapping mat available in the UK.

Multitex absorbent mats offer a simple and efficient way to keep the workplace and floor free from contamination and hazardous fluids. The design of the mat sees fluid immediately transported from the outer fabric to the absorbent, inner core, allowing the surface to remain relatively dry. A Multitex mat can absorb up to three litres of fluids before needing to be replaced. This replaces the need for sand, granules or plastic tubs, according to MEWA. The company added that Multitex is reusable product that offers a cost-effective way to manage hazardous waste.

MEWA described Multitex as the, ‘perfect underlay for repair and maintenance tasks’. It is also applicable for use in sensitive areas around machinery and equipment. Available in a 60 x 90cm towel format, the MEWA Multitex mat can be used as a standalone item, or as several mats placed side by side for larger areas.

Multitex absorbent mats are part of MEWA’s reusable service offering: used mats exchanged for new ones, with the used mats washed in an environmentally friendly, compliant way and returned, clean and ready for use again.

Arnaud Charriez a manufacturing mechanic at family-owned company Chandioux in Auvergne, France, which already uses Multitex mats, explained, ‘We put the mats in front of our machines and no longer have any oil under our shoes and consequently, nor anywhere in the workshop. Since using the collection mats, we have much less dirt.’
