Artisan distillery Copper Frog has launched ‘look-through’ labels on a limited Black Edition gin.

Established in 2017 in Devon, UK by Simon Hughes and family, Copper Frog uses a handmade copper still to distil its products. This means they can only be produced in 40-litre, 50-bottle batches.

The distillery recently decided to produce a limited Black Edition gin at naval strength, 54.5%. Amongst other changes, this new spirit has a higher juniper and liquorice content. In need of a label refresh for this new gin and inspired by a bottle he had seen on the Isle of Wight, Mr Hughes wanted to incorporate a ‘look through the bottle concept’ and discussed this with the recently introduced Design Service from label.co.uk.

The end result is a striking black front label and on turning the bottle, a series of images, that when viewed through the liquid, depict the frog turning into a prince. The labels were produced by label.co.uk and printed on an HP Indigo WS6800 digital press, while the finishing equipment used included a Smag Galaxie Series 2 and a magnesium hot foil plate.
