Edale, AB Graphic and RAKO staff alongside the newly installed Digicon 3000

Edale and AB Graphic International have installed the first Digicon 3000 into Germany at one of the largest manufacturers of self-adhesive labels and flexible packaging in Europe, Asia and South Africa, RAKO Group.

The Digicon 3000 will be used mainly for converting labels at its headquarters in Witzhave, Germany. Roger Gehrke, digital print manager, commented, ‘The array of options including laminating, foiling, vanishing and printing with different technologies such as water, solvent and UV, bring a huge amount of value to our narrow web equipment.’ He continued, ‘The whole concept of the machine is well designed so we can expect a lot in terms of availability, accuracy and productivity. ‘

The Digicon 3000 is a 30 inch finishing solution for digitally pre-printed labels and flexible packaging to run inline with the HP Indigo 20000 digital press, or as an offline converting solution.

This machine is a joint venture by Edale and AB Graphic which was initiated by the growing demand for digital print solutions as the requirements for shorter run lengths, reduced lead times and growing SKU diversity in labels and flexible packaging has increased.

The group has over 80 printing machines at 13 different sites worldwide and manufacture self-adhesive labels, flexible packaging, security technologies (RFID an holograms) and software.
