Amberley Labels has used its digital capabilities to help a new product, Wild Elderflower Spritzer, battle in the competitive drinks market.

Wild Sparkling Drinks and Amberley first began the conversation of how to produce the labels in 2014. The drinks manufacturer was looking for guidance and advice to ensure that the new label would reflect the brand image required.

The first labels were produced with clear on clear to give a no-label look. Next a festival focused label produced on a rustic blanc created an artisan looking label. After that came a label with embossing and hot foil to create gold lettering. Lastly the label that was agreed on was produced on a matt wine substrate with a spot gloss varnish.

‘All the ingredients are natural and I really wanted this to show through in the design. I also wanted the design to say something about the person drinking it, sophisticated, elegant but above all natural,’ said brand owner, Jonathan Wallington.

The label design has been created by various design agencies over time. The initial artwork and design was more of an artisan look, which through experimenting with materials and finishes migrated to today’s finished version.

Using the digital processes allowed the client changes of design and experimenting with substrates, to progress in a time efficient and cost effective way. It also allowed the company to react to the market and consumer trends while creating a perfect solution for testing brand appearances in the launch of a new product.
