Gary Burnley, managing director of Marsh Labels, and Steve Lakin, HP, at Labelexpo

Based on the south coast of England, Marsh Labels first invested in in HP Indigo technology in 2009 when it installed a ws4050, later upgraded to a WS4600.

At Labelexpo Europe last week, managing director Gary Burnley was on the HP stand to shake hands on the deal to take a new WS6800 digital press with an inline priming unit to serve its trade customers with labels.

The company is in the process of moving to larger premises and the new press is all part of the ambitious expansion plans. Having grown from £500,000 turnover to £1.3 million and doubled the number of staff in just six years is in no small way due to investing in digital print technology.

‘Digital has completely changed our business,’ said Mr Burnley. ‘We are continually growing and the new WS6800 will help us progress even further.’

Having first started out in 1983 as a hot foil printing operation, the company today supplies labels to most sectors, including retail, cosmetic, healthcare, food, beverage, security and industrial. The inventory also includes two Digicon Lites finishing machines from AB Graphics, and Marsh Labels is looking to add more converting capacity to keep up with the new investment.
