The Digilase laser cutting system will be on show at Labelexpo

AB Graphic has worked with Herma and HP Indigo to produce a new label sample book to highlight the strengths of its laser cutting system, Digilase Series 3. The labels were designed and printed at HP Indigo in Barcelona.

‘Our new samples clearly demonstrates how unusual labels with striking special effects and eye catching elements can be used as effective marketing tools,’ said business development manager Floriana Montella. ‘HP and Herma were the ideal partners to help us create and produce these outstanding sample labels.’

She continued, ‘The redesigned Digilase S3 is characterised by supreme precision, job changeover on the fly and outstanding efficiency. The laser heads have been replaced with a new type in order to enhance cutting performance and suit the widest range of substrates and the only consumables you need to change are the filters of the fume extraction system.’

Selecting an appropriate adhesive material is very important to ensure uniform adhesive application. Fluctuations of around +/- 3g per square metre are not unusual and can give rise to variances of as much as 15%. Such inconsistencies can trigger unsatisfactory results when removing the cutting waste, said Dr Ulli Nägele, Herma’s head of development. He continued, ‘Special curtain coating enables us to apply extremely consistent coats. A discernible transverse section, consisting of peaks and valleys of adhesive, no longer exists.’

‘We have been collaborating with Herma for many years and use its adhesive materials when running tests with new machines,’ said Ms Montella. ‘We have every confidence in the quality of the materials for our purposes.’
