The new JETvarnish 3D Web Color+ from MGI

MGI is adding digital printing to its roll-to-roll embellishment line by incorporating a toner-based printing module on the JETvarnish 3D Web.

The new JETvarnish 3D Web Color+ incorporates Konica Minolta technology to offer 1200 x 1200dpi resolution in CMYK and will be launched at Labelexpo next week.

‘One year ago, the launch of our Meteor Unlimited Color at drupa, a sheetfed digital press integrated, inline, digital hot foiling, represented a real technological breakthrough in the printing market as the first ‘all-in-one’ digital press”,’ explained Edmond Abergel, MGI’s CEO.

‘This machine is a great success, and generated a lot of interest from our label market customers and prospects. They wanted to benefit from the same integrated concept on our roll-to-roll embellishment press the JETvarnish 3D Web.’

Along with high-definition printing and semi-rotary die-cutting, the converting line offers digital embellishment in the form of foiling and spot UV varnishing. These can be used to add tactile effects, while embossing or holograms can also be added to any pre-printed substrate along with variable data.

The integration of the ‘Color+’ printing technology from Konica Minolta was the result of a close cooperation between the two companies’ R&D teams. Mr Abergel said, ‘Looking for a reliable and efficient industrial solution to offer to our manufacturers eager to use presses operational immediately, MGI chose a well-proven digital printing technology. An easy choice to make since Konica Minolta, partner and major shareholder of the French manufacturer, masters the digital toner technology.’

He concluded, ‘The JETvarnish 3D Web Color+ creates a true breakthrough in the roll-to-roll printing market. This new technology allows to print short, middle or long runs with four colours, until now impossible with traditional technologies.’
