Provider of RFID hardware and solutions Atlas RFID has selected the RFIDRunner, an inkjet-based RFID encode-and-print system, from Graph-Tech USA to expand its ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID label production capacity in response to rising demand across North America.
The move comes as adoption of RFID technology continues to grow across sectors including retail, logistics, and supply chain management. Industry initiatives such as retailer RFID compliance programs have contributed to increased demand for UHF RFID labels, which allow products and assets to be tracked automatically using radio frequency technology rather than traditional line-of-sight barcode scanning.
According to Jeff Patterson, service bureau manager at Atlas RFID, the company sought a system capable of supporting larger production volumes and increasing customer demand. He said the market for RFID technology is expected to continue expanding as more retailers and industries adopt RFID-enabled processes.
The company said the system has increased output while reducing labour requirements and lowering per-label production costs. Mr Patterson also cited improvements in print quality and quality control, noting that the system’s integrated camera verification technology has enhanced production accuracy.
Markus Portmann, president of Graph-Tech USA, commented: “What sets us apart is that we don’t just provide components – we deliver a complete turnkey system, including the controller, inkjet, transport, full integration, and after-sales support.”
