Greater Manchester-based label printing specialist Labels UK has strengthened its digital production capabilities with the installation of an HP Indigo 6K digital press, marking a “significant” step in its technology investment and sustainability strategy.
The move supports the company’s continued focus on delivering high-quality, personalised label solutions, expanding its capacity in variable data printing (VDP), and enhancing workflow efficiency across operations.
The HP Indigo 6K offers up to seven colour stations, advanced automation tools such as Spot Master and Automatic Alert Agent, and a media range covering pressure-sensitives, shrink sleeves and light cartons. Its technology enables faster changeovers, consistent print quality and reduced waste – key benefits for converters handling short runs and customised applications.
“HP is recognised as the industry standard for digital label printing,” said David Dobson, managing director at Labels UK. “The HP Indigo 6K allows us to deliver the highest quality to our customers, while the software capabilities support high-volume variable data printing and improved workflow efficiency. This investment helps us stay competitive and continue meeting the evolving demands of our clients.”
Andy Pike, marketing manager, HP Industrial Print EMEA, added: “The HP Indigo 6K is helping Labels UK deliver even more value to their customers. By combining exceptional print quality with advanced automation and workflow tools, the press enables greater efficiency, personalisation and sustainability.”
The installation was completed in April 2025 at Labels UK’s Irlam facility. It was supported through a tailored financing arrangement with HP Financial Services, allowing Labels UK to move forward with the purchase before concluding its existing lease.
Labels UK also participated in HP’s Jump Start programme, gaining experience with the HP PrintOS cloud-based operating system to streamline job management and production tracking. The company is now preparing to adopt augmented reality tools, such as the HP Hololens XR headset, to further optimise production.
