Atlanta-based labelling company Better Label has expanded its digital printing capabilities with the recent installation of a Durst Tau RSCi, a move that reflects the company’s efforts to modernise operations and prepare for future growth.

The decision to invest in the RSCi came during an internal evaluation of expansion strategies. Company leaders determined that enhanced digital printing capabilities were necessary to meet evolving customer needs and production demands.

“We wanted a printer that would support our existing work while giving us flexibility for new projects,” said Kim Day, general manager of Better Label. “We felt the RSCi offered a strong return on investment based on our current and future requirements.”

The Durst Tau RSCi is designed for industrial-level production and features print speeds of up to 100 meters per minute with 1200 dpi resolution. Since its installation, the printer has allowed Better Label to produce jobs more efficiently and print on a wider range of substrates.

Beyond the technical specifications, Better Label cited Durst’s customer support as a key factor in their decision. “The post-sales support from Durst was a differentiator,” Ms Day noted. “They worked closely with us during the evaluation, installation, and training processes.”

Steve Lynn, executive director of Durst north America, commented: “The RSCi is well-suited to Better Label’s business model and growth plans. We’re pleased to support their digital transition.”

This investment marks the first major capital expenditure by Better Label and Atlantic Tap & Packaging since the two companies merged in late 2023. Leadership from both sides see the equipment as a strategic step toward expanding into new markets and strengthening operations.

“This is just the beginning,” Ms Day said. “We anticipate additional investments as we continue to align and grow.”
