At Labelexpo Europe 2025, HP unveiled new additions to its labels and packaging portfolio, including the global debut of the HP Indigo 6K+ Digital Press. The company also presented its HP Indigo V12 and HP Indigo 200K presses, highlighting its continued focus on digital automation and production scalability.
The event also marked a milestone for HP Indigo, with the company announcing the installation of its 3000th digital press for labels and packaging. The milestone unit, an HP Indigo 6K+, was installed at Dublin-based Watershed Group, a long-time HP customer. The figure reflects steady global adoption of HP Indigo technologies as converters shift from analogue to digital production.
HP executives positioned the announcements as timely, as converters face increasing pressure from rising costs, labour shortages, and demands for faster turnarounds across multiple product SKUs. “HP Indigo is leading the rapidly evolving labels and packaging industry with nonstop digital printing, intelligent automation, and AI-powered solutions,” said Noam Zilbershtain, vice president and general manager of HP Indigo. “Our wide portfolio of presses is designed to meet various printing needs and empower customers to handle any demand at any scale.”
The HP Indigo V12, one of the centrepieces of HP’s booth, is designed for high-speed label production and has achieved monthly output volumes of up to one million linear meters at customer sites. Patrik Jenemark, CEO of Swedish converter Nordvalls, said the press has enhanced operational efficiency. “It’s a great complement to traditional flexo. We’ve reduced setup times, minimised waste, and improved responsiveness across our production floor,” he said.
Debuting at the event, the HP Indigo 6K+ introduces the SmartControlSystem, a combination of hardware and software enhancements designed to improve uptime, diagnostics, and automation. According to Kirwan Waters, director of Watershed Group, the new press has already delivered improved lead times and operational flexibility. “It has strengthened our on-time delivery and given us the flexibility to shift shorter runs to digital, freeing up capacity across the business,” he said.
Also on display, the HP Indigo 200K is designed for flexible packaging and mid-web applications, including large labels and shrink sleeves. With more than 400 installations worldwide, it further extends HP’s digital reach into non-label segments.
HP also announced an expansion of its inline primer portfolio through new partnerships with Actega and Sun Chemical, joining its existing collaboration with Michelman. The expansion is intended to give converters more choices and adaptability across substrates.
In line with its broader sustainability goals, HP emphasised the recyclability of its Digital ElectroInk, which has been recognised by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR), and noted compliance with regulations such as France’s Mineral Oil ban and the forthcoming EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation. At the show, HP featured a reusable, locally sourced booth with recyclable signage printed using HP Latex technology, with all event waste processed through Labelexpo’s recycling program.
