DS Smith Packaging has become the first packaging firm in the UK to become a member of the Institute of Customer Services and has started the ServiceMark accreditation process, which demonstrates its commitment to customer service.

The supplier of corrugated packaging is one of a growing number of business suppliers who are working towards achieving the ServiceMark standard. ServiceMark is the National Customer Service Standard. It is an organisational accreditation scheme that is achieved through a combination of online diagnostics, analysis and actions followed by an independent assessment.

All of the company’s sites in the UK are involved with auditing and benchmarking customer service standards against best practice in the consumer sector.

Tony Foster, sales and marketing director, said: ‘We have great people in our customer service departments who maintain really good standards, however our objective is to go further and align ourselves with the best possible practices. The Institute is the ideal organisation to work with because it represents the highest level of endorsement.’
