Identiv has the launch of ID-Pixels 3.0, a new family of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) inlays and labels designed to help organisations monitor goods throughout supply chains.
The products are built on Wiliot’s third-generation integrated circuit (Gen3 IC) and are intended to provide continuous sensing and tracking capabilities for physical assets.
The launch marks the latest development in the partnership between Identiv and Wiliot, which began in 2022. The companies have collaborated on the manufacturing and supply of Wiliot’s IoT Pixel technology, with ID-Pixels 3.0 representing the latest product resulting from that relationship.
According to the companies, the labels are designed to support increased visibility and automation in supply chain operations by collecting real-world data from products and assets. The technology is intended to provide information that can be used in applications such as inventory management, shipment tracking, asset monitoring, and cold-chain logistics.
“Identiv was an early manufacturer of Wiliot-based BLE labels at scale, and ID-Pixels 3.0 builds on that foundation with a battery-free, cost-efficient solution for mass deployment,” said Dr Manfred Mueller, COO of Identiv. “Combining BLE, sensing, and a unique digital identity in a single label, it enables real-time visibility and condition monitoring across physical supply chains.”
The self-adhesive labels measure approximately 33mm by 60mm and are designed to harvest energy from ambient Bluetooth and UHF signals, eliminating the need for batteries. Each label contains a unique digital identifier and can collect data including location, temperature, humidity, and light exposure.
Identiv said the labels are intended for large-scale deployments across sectors such as retail, logistics, pharmaceuticals, food, and smart packaging. The company stated that the technology can be integrated with Wiliot’s Physical AI platform, which analyses sensor data and converts it into operational insights.
The new product line is based on Wiliot’s Gen3 IC, which the companies say offers improvements in performance, cost efficiency, and sensing capabilities compared with previous generations. The platform is designed to support the flow of data from physical assets into enterprise systems for monitoring and analysis.
“When we introduced our IoT Pixels, Identiv became an important part of the broader ecosystem bringing this technology to market,” said Amir Khoshniyati, vice president at Wiliot. “With the recently released Gen3 capabilities, coupled with our Physical AI platform, we’re building on that collaboration to expand the availability of tags and strengthen the ecosystem – ensuring we can meet growing market demand and enable enterprises to digitize their supply chains with continuous, real-time intelligence.”
