Corrugated packaging manufacturer Durham Box has partnered with long-standing customer Ringtons to produce a seasonal gift box featuring digitally printed graphics and advanced laser die-cutting.

Developed for Ringtons’ 2025 Christmas gifting range, the one-piece box with lid measures 300 × 200 × 80mm and incorporates a clay-coated outer liner with a white kraft inner liner. The pack is digitally printed on both sides, and its main feature is the use of intricate laser-cut detailing designed to expose the print beneath, creating a textured and visually distinctive finish.

Sally Caton, business development manager at Durham Box, said the project aimed to highlight the creative potential of laser technology compared with standard die-cutting methods.

Durham Box produced 15,000 units for the range, continuing a business relationship with Ringtons that has lasted more than a decade. Both companies are family-owned firms based in the North East of England.

Ringtons’ head of product Serena Philipson said: “This pack has been a real hero for our festive range, with the laser-cut detailing adding a premium, precision finish that transforms what would otherwise be a standard gift box. Introducing laser technology required close collaboration, particularly around achieving perfect colour alignment beneath the detailed cut areas, but the outcome has been worth the focus.”

Following positive commercial results, Ringtons plans to use more laser-cut presentation packaging in forthcoming product launches and is assessing additional formats for release next year.
