German self-adhesive material manufacturer, VPF, has developed a paper wine label range for water-based inkjet printing systems. The company claims that until now there has been no readily available solution on the market for the individual printing of labels on high-quality, embossed natural or wine papers using water-based inkjet systems.
The range comprises of four high-quality papers, which are available from a minimum quantity of 1000sqm in combination with permanent or water-washable adhesives. The company added that they and are suitable for high-quality inkjet printing on wine, spirits, cosmetics or food products.
After development work, VPF states that it is now able to equip embossed papers with inkjet coating, which significantly optimises colour brilliance and drying speed compared to non-coated papers. The papers can be printed with both dye and pigment inks, while still having a haptic natural paper character. Despite the inkjet coating, the embossing of the papers is easy to see and feel.
VPF said it paid particular attention to compatibility with permanent adhesives, which are already used in the wine industry. The company also paid attention to the coating with wash-off adhesives, which enable the clean separation of the labels of reusable products in car washes (with or without lye).
A total of four products are available at the start of the inkjet wine program. These include: VPF 13885, Inkjet Paper Martelé white 90g, 40% recycled content; VPF 10600, Inkjet Paper Vergé crème 80g; VPF 13426, Inkjet Paper Bagasse white 90g, 60% sugar cane fibre content; and VPF 13825, Inkjet Paper Laid white 90g, 100% recycled content.
As part of this development, VPF has stated that it has now succeeded for the first time in presenting a 100% recycled paper for the inkjet sector. The Inkjet Paper Laid white (VPF 13825) is a 100% recycled paper that has not yet been available on the market for water-based inkjet printing, the company claimed.
