Two names in packaging graphics, print production, branded environments, and content creation, SGK and SGS & Co, have finalised their merger to form Propelis, a new global agency group. Propelis will offer integrated solutions that span creative services, brand and content production, and print and packaging technologies.

As part of the Propelis family, the newly branded SGX – the combination of both SGK and SGS & Co – will specialise in packaging graphic production and print solutions, including flexographic platemaking, rotogravure cylinder production, and metal decoration. Marks & Equator will continue offering services in creative strategy, digital commerce, experiential marketing, and content production. Collide will focus on store signage, large format, digital, and sheetfed printing, as well as packaging mock-ups and distribution. 5Flow will provide cloud-based platforms for content and packaging automation.

Propelis will be led by Gary Kohl, formerly president of SGK, as CEO, and with Matt Gresge, former CEO of SGS & Co, serving as executive chairman. The group aims to enhance service delivery by combining local market knowledge with global infrastructure, and by investing in technology including AI-driven content tools and packaging workflow automation. The merger positions Propelis to meet evolving industry demands and provide brands with end-to-end support in a fast-moving market.

Mr Kohl believes the merger is a defining moment for the industry. “With exponentially greater resources, expanded global reach, and a world-class team united around a single vision, we are entering this next chapter with purpose and momentum,” he said. “From day one, our focus is clear: to meet the evolving go-to-market needs of our clients faster, better, and more efficiently, while envisioning new, creative ways for their brands to build stronger consumer connections.”

Mr Gresge added: “The formation of Propelis is a bold step into the future of our industry. We’re building something new: a unified, agile agency model that is uniquely equipped to solve our clients’ biggest challenges and drive meaningful change in how brands engage with their customers. With our combined capabilities, Propelis is poised to become the go-to global partner for brands that want to lead with creativity, move with precision, and grow with purpose.”

The newly formed entity brings together over 10,000 employees across more than 30 countries, serving over 2000 clients with nearly $1 billion (£750 million) in annual revenue.

Digital Labels & Packaging initially reported on the merger in January.
