Liverpool-based TW Parker has invested in its first digital press for labels and flexible packaging. Having looked at adding digital technology to its offering for a couple of years, the company sealed the deal for an HP Indigo WS6800 digital press at Labelexpo in Brussels last week.
‘We need to meet the demands from our customers for shorter runs and faster turnaround. Having looked at other competing technologies, we decided that the high quality of the WS6800 was the perfect fit for us,’ said joint managing director, Eugene Roche. He also explained that the new colour automation package, which includes an inline spectrophotometer using closed loop control, made the press particularly attractive and that the machine will fit well into the existing workflow. A purpose built climate-controlled room will be housing the new press.
TW Parker was established in 1952 and has three manufacturing sites on Merseyside, covering over 50,000 square feet. Producing over 500 million PET and aluminium lids each year, it is the UK’s largest manufacturer and printer of premium post-labelled pots, flexible heat sealed lids and self-adhesive labels for a variety of sectors, including dairy, meat and drinks. In 2011, the company’s Nilpeter flexo presses were replaced by two Gallus EM 410 S presses.
