Essex-based Baker Labels has taken delivery of two more HP Indigo WS6800 Digital Presses to increase capacity and productivity at its Brentwood facility. The new installations will supply much needed spare capacity.
‘Our customers are looking for shorter lead times and a consistent quality supply of goods,’ said managing director Steve Baker. ‘We have had a long and successful relationship with HP for over 11 years now and have purchased a total of seven Indigo presses in that time. We are familiar with the technology and the 6800 press is very stable, so we are confident that this will be a good investment for years to come. We have excellent operators and highly skilled support staff so it makes sense to give them the best equipment available.’
He continued, ‘Thanks to our work with HP, we’ve had the opportunity to use new technologies, such as HP SmartStream Mosaic, and new inks, like white and florescent ink, in order to continue innovating. After 11 years of working with Indigo technology, our customers have come to expect the highest quality and continuous innovation from our team.’
The company sees this as the start of a new round of major investment and is looking to bolster its finishing department too. Mr Baker also said that he and his team are looking forward to Labelexpo in September to see how inkjet and enhancing technologies have progressed.
