Konica Minolta has introduced a new digital label press prototype at Labelexpo Europe, aimed at enhancing automation, print quality, and productivity in mid-range digital label production.

The new system, currently referred to as the AccurioLabel Prototype, builds on the foundation of the AccurioLabel 230, a press widely adopted for short- to mid-run label printing. The prototype introduces an optional Intelligent Quality Optimiser, which is designed to support longer print runs – up to 1600 linear metres – while maintaining accurate colour registration at full speed (23.4 meters per minute). The system also features an increased print resolution of 1200 x 2400dpi.

“This unveiling marks another milestone in our digital label journey,” said Toshi Uemura, executive officer and head of industrial print at Konica Minolta Europe. “By building on the AccurioLabel 230’s success, the new prototype delivers greater automation, speed, and quality – key requirements in today’s fast-evolving label production environment.”

Alongside the prototype, the company exhibited its full range of digital label and packaging workflow solutions in collaboration with MGI Digital Technology. Featured products included the AccurioLabel 230 (CMYK) and AccurioLabel 400 (CMYK + White), catering to businesses transitioning from conventional to digital production. MGI’s JETvarnish 3D Web 400 was also on display for digital embellishment, as well as the GM DC350Mini Basic for semi-rotary die-cutting and lamination. Hybrid digital finishing was represented by the MGI Octopus Web.

Konica Minolta also demonstrated several software platforms including AccurioPro Flux, AccurioPro Dashboard, and the IC-320L Creo controller. MGI’s Connect suite – featuring Dashboard, Approve, and Predict – as well as its JetForce platform were also presented.

Since launching the first AccurioLabel press in 2014, the company has installed over 1700 systems globally.
