Screen has expanded its collaboration with colour management specialist CGS ORIS to integrate its colour quality control system, Certified, with its Truepress Label digital presses. The move aims to enhance colour accuracy and consistency in label printing, with a focus on meeting international standards and improving long-term quality control.
The integration will be demonstrated at Labelexpo Europe 2025 in Hall 5, Stand D55, where Screen’s Truepress Label 350UV SAI S press will be running live throughout the event.
The press, which recently became the first UV inkjet system to receive Idealliance G7 Digital Press Certification for expanded colour reproduction, will now benefit from automated colour verification using CGS ORIS’s Certified software. This system allows operators to confirm that output consistently meets standards such as FOGRA 51 and GRACoL, providing documented evidence of compliance.
Screen and CGS ORIS have worked together for several years, particularly in developing digital colour management solutions through Screen’s EQUIOS workflow. These tools include support for Colour Exchange Format data, which helps automate colour matching and quality control processes.
Bernd Rückert, CEO at CGS ORIS, said that among the potential areas for collaboration, quality control and colour consistency in label printing presented the most immediate opportunity for impact.
Certified allows detailed profiling of a press’s colour gamut and can be used to regularly monitor stability over time. The software evaluates colour patches and calculates Delta E values to detect even minor deviations in colour output. Data is stored in a cloud-based system that enables ongoing documentation, trend analysis, and reporting across multiple devices and production sites.
By streamlining colour setup and reducing reliance on physical proofs, the combined Screen–CGS ORIS workflow also supports efforts to cut waste and reduce turnaround times.
Additionally, test data from Certified can be accessed through CGS ORIS’s web platform Evaluate, providing transparency across an organisation’s production processes and enabling faster response to any colour-related issues.
