The R F Etichette team with the Dilli NeoMercury NM-350W

Label printer R F Etichette near Milan, Italy, has invested in a Dilli NeoMercury NM-350W digital label press, together with a high speed finishing semi-rotary machine to expand its existing flexo print service.

The family-owned company offers design, pre-press, print and finishing services, specialising in producing a wide range of labels for its trade customers.

‘The NeoMercury NM-350 is an interesting choice for us,’ said Andrea Covri who will personally operate the machine, ‘not only does it enable us to offload our flexo presses from all the small and medium runs we used to uneconomically print on a more and more frequent basis, but it also increases our production speeds and delivers the high quality print that our customers demand. With Dilli we can efficiently switch production from flexo to digital and vice versa according to the machine’s set programs, workload and urgencies.’

The standard 50 m/min running speed of the press combined with a web width of up to 350 mm and the ability to print on material from 25 to 600 microns, enables it to deliver an output of 1000 sqm/hour with photo-realistic quality. It is equipped with an automated head cleaning function which reduces the amount of time required to keep the press in optimum condition.

The press incorporates single-pass greyscale piezo printheads with droplet sizes as small as 3 picolitres. The selection of print resolutions of 600,900 and 1200 dpi combined with the small droplet size and they grey level gives sharp, well-defined images and text and a wide gamut. A programmable LED pinning system between the colours secures optimal drying results while reducing heat generation and energy consumption.

‘The new press is already offering many benefits to the company’s customers,’ Mr Gasbarro said. ‘We pride ourselves on offering a first class service and fast delivery thanks to our team’s high level of commitment and now with the flexibility of the NeoMercury 350W we can further increase our number of deliveries as well as print longer run jobs, satisfying more clients at higher profitability levels.’
