Flexible packaging producer Constantia Flexibles has partnered with its digital arm Smartflex and HP to deliver a large-scale seasonal packaging campaign for Mondelēz and the Spanish holiday brand Suchard.
Using the HP Indigo 25K digital press, the companies produced 6.8 million uniquely numbered chocolate bars as part of an initiative linking the product to Spain’s well-known Christmas raffle tradition.
Supported by HP Indigo 25K technology and HP SmartStream Designer, production was completed in six months, delivering millions of personalised packs with extensive variable data capabilities. According to the companies, many of the products sold out shortly after hitting stores.
The HP Indigo 25K is designed to combine high-speed digital production with broad substrate compatibility and colour accuracy, said HP. Its ability to manage large-scale personalisation without extending lead times or compromising visual uniformity made it central to the project.

The “packaging hit”
Under the campaign tagline “Esta Navidad cada tableta es única” (“This Christmas every tablet is unique”), Mondelēz Spain created what it describes as a packaging-led activation aimed at boosting consumer engagement and visibility during the peak holiday period. “This campaign wouldn’t have been possible without HP’s innovation and support,” said Olaya González, brand manager chocolate seasonal Spain. “Together, we turned a packaging idea into a nationwide experience.”
The Suchard activation is considered a first of its type and scale in Spain’s confectionery sector, highlighting how digital printing can support mass personalisation while helping reduce waste, limit overproduction, and increase supply-chain flexibility around seasonal demand.
“This project exemplifies how HP Indigo enables brands and converters to move beyond conventional packaging and craft immersive consumer experiences that elevate marketing impact,” said Abel Sanchez, head of brands and sustainability innovation at HP. “Constantia Flexibles and Smartflex combined precision with creativity, and together we’ve demonstrated the power of digital print to deliver both emotional connection and commercial results.”
By aligning the packaging with a cultural tradition as familiar as the national Christmas raffle, Constantia Flexibles supported Mondelēz Spain in positioning Suchard as both a seasonal favourite and a collectible cultural touchpoint. With HP Indigo technology underpinning production, Constantia Flexibles says it continues to help brands use packaging as a platform for creativity, consumer connection, and commercial impact.
